Burst was a finalist concept designed for a government building in eastern Colorado.
Using stained glass to tell a narrative of past and present, Burst outlines the stories that have shaped the county it was designed for.
Each pane of glass draws from metaphor and symbolism to trace ancient geology and anthropology of eastern Colorado, as well as modern technological advancements and development. Multiple layers of color and design reference natural and man-made elements that are all part of the narrative of the place.
The sculpture follows along a track, referencing its railroad history. Its movement culminates in an upward burst towards the sky.
